Common Room Players

Typography. 2016.

Common Room Players was a monthly meetup and play reading, hosted by my wife, L. Stephanie Tait, and myself. Each month, we would pick a play, edit/format it, and print copies for a group of 5-12 friends. Our stage was a Studiio City apartment living room. Assigned parts were rotated throughout the play to try to give everyone equal "stage time." The result was a creative, experimental, and hilarious way to kick it on a Sunday afternoon.

While formatting the plays, I found myself designing special cover logos that became a fun part of the process:

A highlight of our "season," was performing a live staged reading of Molière's "The Miser," with character names swapped out for family and associates of Donald Trump. The incredible cast was led by talented clown performer, Mike Funt, in the role of Trump/Harpagon. One night only on November 4, the Friday before the 2016 election, the performance was intended to be a send-off for what we thought was sure to be an election loss for Trump.
